Malang – Ilham Muhammad Faris, a student of the Medical Education Study Program, won first place. Business Plan at the 9th Science, Sports, Arts, and Research Week (PIONIR) held at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. In the competition, held from Monday to Sunday, July 15-21, 2019, Ilham competed with dozens of students from other State Islamic Religious Universities (PTKIN) across Indonesia.

Ilham joined the team with Muhammad Arief, an Accounting student at UIN Malang. They participated in the Research branch selection for business plan by submitting a proposal and then successfully entering the top ten.

“"I'm planning a healthy, halal, and good fish rice box business. I came up with this idea because in Indonesia, especially in East Java, fish consumption is still low. Yet, fish is highly nutritious and can meet the nutritional needs of growing children. For adults, fish is good for the body because it has less fat than chicken and beef. Furthermore, we chose rice boxes because this business is targeted at children and adults, so it can meet their dietary needs. Therefore, with this business, I hope to raise public awareness about increasing fish consumption," he said.

Under the guidance of Ms. Sri Andriani, SE, M.Si., Ilham and his friends spent three months preparing materials and conducting research for their business idea. Although it took a long time, Ilham felt the effort was worth it when he finally won a gold medal in the competition.

“"This competition was really cool because it required collaboration with students from other departments unrelated to medicine. It further honed my economics knowledge and broadened my network of contacts," he added.

Ilham also advised other medical students not to be afraid to try to take part in competitions that suit their interests. passion-nya, even though it is not related to medicine.
