Malang, June 6, 2026 – The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang in collaboration with the Insan Medika Training Center held the 10th SHIAM X NSAID 2026 National Scientific Workshop with the theme “SMART AI: Scientific Medical Advancement in Research, Teaching, Learning, and Health Services through Artificial Intelligence.” This activity aims to improve the competence of students, health workers, academics, and the general public in utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to support research, education, and health services. This activity was held as part of a series of events to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the UIN Malang Medical Education study program.

The event was held in a hybrid format at the 3rd Floor Auditorium Hall of the Ar-Rahim Building, FKIK UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang and via Zoom Meeting. This activity presented national speakers experienced in the field of research and utilization of AI in the world of health, namely Ahmad Fauzi, M.Pd. from the University of Muhammadiyah Malang and dr. Mirza Zaka Pratama, M.Biomed., Sp.PD. from Brawijaya University. The workshop was also accompanied by dr. Abdul Malik Setiawan, M.Infect.Dis., Ph.D., Head of the Artificial Intelligence Unit of FKIK UIN Malang, as a facilitator.
The event began with participant registration at 7:00 a.m. WIB, followed by an opening by the MC, recitation of verses from the Quran, singing of Indonesia Raya and the FKIK Hymn, and remarks from various institutional leaders. The remarks were given by the Chairperson of the Executive Committee, the Chairperson of the UIN Malang PSPD Association, the Head of the UIN Malang PSPD Study Program, and the Deputy Dean II of FKIK UIN Malang.
The student committee chair, Salma Miladina Widiristantri (PSPD 24) expressed her gratitude to all parties involved and made this event a success.
“"Thank you to all the committee members, lecturers, and sponsors for their guidance, assistance, and ideas in making this event a success," he said.
The Chairman of HMPPD Muhammad Raihan Zaky (PSPD 24) hopes that this event will be useful in daily life, especially in writing scientific papers.
“"We hope the audience can implement AI in their daily lives, for example, through research," he said.
Dr. drg. Risma Aprinda K., M.Si., Head of the PSPD Study Program at UIN Malang, hopes that inviting these competent speakers will provide more insight to the audience.
“"We hope the material presented by the speakers will provide the audience with new insights regarding AI," he said.

Following the official opening, participants took a pre-test to assess their understanding of the topics to be discussed. The event then moved on to the main session, a workshop and scientific discussion on the use of AI in healthcare.
The workshop, which was the main component of the event, addressed two strategic topics highly relevant to current developments in academia and healthcare. The first, "Utilizing AI in Health Research and Scientific Publications," was delivered by Ahmad Fauzi, M.Pd., and discussed:,
– Ethics, limitations, and policies of using AI in scientific research and publication.
– AI-assisted research idea brainstorming.
– Preparation of research design with the help of AI technology.
– Efficient scientific literature search and review strategies.
– Creating article summaries and synthesizing health/medical literature using AI.
Through this session, participants gain practical insights into how to responsibly leverage AI to enhance research productivity without compromising academic integrity.
The second material, themed "AI Optimization for Writing Scientific Health Articles," was delivered by Dr. Mirza Zaka Pratama, M.Biomed., Sp.PD., this session discussed:
– Strategy for utilizing AI in the process of writing scientific articles.
– Systematic and high-quality academic manuscript preparation techniques.
– Utilizing AI to improve the effectiveness of writing health and medical manuscripts.
– Tips and best practices for integrating AI into the scientific publication process.
This session is designed to help participants produce scientific work that is more structured, efficient, and ready for publication in scientific journals.
In addition to the workshop session, participants also took part in plenary discussions, interactive question and answer sessions, and evaluations through post-tests to measure the increase in participants' understanding after participating in the activity.
In an interview with Mr. Yossi Indra Kusuma, S.Ked., M.Med.Ed., as the chief executive of the lecturer committee, this activity is expected to be held annually as a form of scientific publication by lecturers and students.
“"We hope that students will benefit from this and improve their productivity and quality in scientific publications and other research," Mr. Yossi said in an interview.
The event concluded at 4:34 PM WIB after all events were completed. Through this SMART AI National Scientific Workshop, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang hopes to foster a generation of academics and healthcare professionals who are adaptable to technological developments and capable of utilizing artificial intelligence ethically and responsibly to support the advancement of research, education, and healthcare services in Indonesia.
