Students from the Faculty of Medicine and Medicine, UIN Malang, have once again brought the good name of UIN Malang and Indonesia to the international stage. The collaboration of three PSPD classes, led by Risna Afiatur Rosyida (2018) and members Yuwan Ihzudin Sumitro (2019), Siti Fadilla (2020), Dwiki Pramudika Abdul Aziz (2020), and Balqis Faizah Azzahra (2020), won a Silver Medal at the International Competition for Senior Class (WINTEX). The event was organized by INNOPA in conjunction with Indonesia Inventors Day 2022 last October. The research conducted examined the potential of antibacterial compounds in soy milk yogurt to fight bacteria. e. coli causes of diarrhea.

An online interview with Risna revealed that their motivation for participating in this competition was due to their previous participation in national-level competitions, which challenged them to try competing at a higher level. The stages of the competition that Risna and her team participated in included a jury selection process and a presentation stage. The assessment consisted of the work script, presentation, and product video. "The five of us conducted research together, then we divided up the tasks of writing the script and making the video for the competition," Risna explained.

Throughout the process, the five PSPD students encountered no significant obstacles. However, good time management was required between research and assignments and class activities. Their diverse academic backgrounds facilitated the project, as they could fill in for each other's gaps when class schedules required them. Their previous experience participating in competitions together made it easier for the team to discuss and come up with viable ideas.

Risna and her team expressed their delight at winning the Silver Medal. They gained numerous benefits, including understanding the differences between national and international competitions. Furthermore, the judges' constructive feedback during the presentation round provided further experience, allowing them to refine their innovation.

At the end of the interview, Risna advised all students to remain enthusiastic about the process and their work, as success is not achieved instantly. "Every step of the way brings many lessons. Be patient, enjoy the process, and be grateful for whatever the outcome," Risna concluded.
