On Sunday, August 27, 2023, to commemorate the 78th Indonesian Independence Day, the Medical Education Study Program Student Association (HMPPD) and the Rhazes Medical Team (TBM-RMT) of UIN Malang held a health checkup for local residents as part of the implementation of one of the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Higher Education). This community service initiative is expected to contribute to improving the well-being of the community, particularly in the health sector.

The event was held at 07.30-09.00 WIB at RW 06, Semanding, Ds. Sumbersekar, Kec. Dau, Kab. Malang which was aimed at the surrounding community and was opened directly by the committee and the Head of RW 06. In addition to being attended by local residents, this health check-up activity also presented 15 UIN preclinical students who are members of the Rhazes Medical Team (RMT) and HMPPD, 1 Co Assistant student and UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang Alumni doctors namely dr. Reza Riandinata M. Biomed, dr. Putri Aulawiya Rosyida M. Biomed, and dr. Ricko Arie Jatmiko. In addition, the activity was accompanied by the RMT supervisor, namely dr. Christyaji Indradmojo Sp. EM and also the Deputy Dean 3 of FKIK UIN Malang dr. Alvi Milliana, M. Biomed.

The supervisor of the RMT FKIK UIN Malang, Dr. Christyaji Indradmojo Sp.EM, explained that the benefits of this health check are that residents receive recommendations for maintaining their health based on their test results. Furthermore, this opportunity allows students to practice the knowledge they have learned during their studies, and the Faculty can practice one of the three pillars of higher education, namely community service.

“"Alhamdulillah, we received assistance from alumni who were willing to come far from their places of duty in Mojokerto, Jombang, and Kepanjen. This willingness is inseparable from the mission of RMT and HMPPD UIN Malang to play a role in FKIK's efforts to provide benefits to the community because above Islam is faith. As a medical faculty under an Islamic institution, we need to honor our neighbors because neighbors are our closest relatives. The request for cooperation from Semanding village is a momentum to share benefits and it is hoped that with this examination activity, fellow officers can gain experience in going into the field and applying the knowledge they have previously gained. With this activity, it is also hoped that residents will be more aware of their health," said Dr. Christyaji, during a dialogue with the FKIK UIN Malang Press Team.

The Deputy Dean 3 for Student Affairs and Cooperation of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UIN Malang, Dr. Alvi Milliana, M.Biomed, explained that this event was a collaboration between residents around campus 3, students from RMT, HMPPD, Calvaria, and FKIK lecturers and alumni of FKIK doctors. This Health Check-up activity was very good because it was able to synergize the potential of FKIK with the needs of the community.

“"The event was very lively, with many patients, but not because of illness. Rather, it raised public awareness about screening and health checks for blood sugar, cholesterol, uric acid, and stroke consultations. I hope events like this can continue to be held by the academic community, collaborating with FKIK alumni, to increase their benefits for the community," concluded Dr. Alvi.

The health checkup conducted by HMPPD demonstrated a harmonious relationship between the FKIK academic community, alumni, and residents around UIN Malang Campus 3. Overall, it is hoped that this activity will provide numerous benefits to the community, particularly in the health sector.
