Dau, November 16, 2025 – As a follow-up to the series Leadership Training LKMM, the Medical Education Study Program Student Association (HMPPD) UIN Malang is holding another Plan of Action (PoA). This program is an annual activity implemented by new students to realize one of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely Community Service, which is introduced from freshman year. This activity also provides a space for new students to practice event management skills and engage in direct community service. This year's PoA program discussed the prevention of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF).

The 2025 PoA activity was centered at the Ni'matul Iman Islamic Boarding School, Dau District, a location chosen by considering the access of new students close to the Ma'had UIN Malang area. In addition to facilitating mobilization, the location was also considered relevant to the needs of health education in the Islamic boarding school environment. This activity was opened directly by the caretaker of the Ni'matul Iman Islamic Boarding School, Ustadzah Faizah and accompanied by Dr. Lina Fitria Astari, Sp.A, M.Biomed, as a representative of the lecturers and presenters. The opening of the 2025 PoA was carried out symbolically by cutting the ribbon.

This year, PoA carries two main themes: SAHABAT (Great, Clean, Trustworthy, and Resilient Students) and GEMA BERIMAN (Clean, Beautiful, Safe, and Comfortable Student Movement). The subtheme discussed is a hot health issue close to the community's lives: Dengue Fever (DHF).

According to the speaker, Dr. Lina Fitria Astari, Sp.A, M.Biomed, the choice of the DHF theme is very appropriate.

“"I think the topic, specifically dengue fever, is appropriate. It's also supported by the current unpredictable weather conditions, which facilitates the delivery of the material and practical implementation," he said.

Following the material session, the activity continued with a communal cleaning effort around the boarding school. This activity wasn't just a cleanup, but a concrete step to reduce the risk of mosquito breeding and the spread of dengue fever within the boarding school.

HMPPD representative, Rizki Fadhil (PSPD '23), emphasized that mutual cooperation in PoA has more value than just community service.

“"We want to help the boarding school, prevent the spread of disease, and strengthen the bond between the class. This spirit of mutual cooperation can foster unity and solidarity among all parties involved," he said.

In addition to providing organizational and community service experience, PoA 2025 also provided a platform for new students to see firsthand how medical science can be implemented in simple yet impactful ways. The education about dengue fever presented at the Islamic boarding school provided a clear picture that disease prevention doesn't always require complex medical interventions, but can begin with simple things like maintaining environmental cleanliness, managing waste, and eliminating potential waterlogging. This experience is expected to foster social awareness and sense of responsibility to students as future health workers.

Furthermore, the PoA activities also provide a platform for students to build social networks with the surrounding community. The interaction between students, boarding school administrators, and new students creates a harmonious atmosphere that strengthens the campus-community relationship. This cross-functional collaboration not only fosters public trust in the Faculty of Medicine and Medicine, UIN Malang, but also demonstrates that medical students are capable of acting as agents of positive change. Through activities like PoA, the values of integrity, empathy, and collaboration are further ingrained in students.
