The series of orientation and campus introduction (ospek) activities for new students has reached its final stage. Following the university orientation, also known as PBAK Refortika, the orientation activities continue at the faculty level, known as Ta'aruf. The Medical Education Study Program held a department orientation, commonly known as Mitosis, for four days, on September 9, 16, 23, and 30, 2023, held in the Discussion Room on the 3rd floor of the Shelter House, UIN Malang Postgraduate Campus.
Mitosis is a series of Student Management Skills Training (LKMM) events, guided by the Indonesian Medical Student Senate Association (ISMKI). The event included presentations and active discussions attended by students from the 2023 class of the Medical Education Study Program. The event aimed to introduce medical culture at UIN Malang and provide training in management and leadership. The event was attended by the Deputy Dean III of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of UIN Malang, the Secretary of the Medical Education Study Program (PSPD), the Chair of the HMPPD, and speakers.
Students participated in the Mitosis activity, wearing white tops and black bottoms, wearing their own identification, and unique attributes that reflected their respective groups. They listened and took notes, followed by an active discussion or question-and-answer session, which was answered directly by the resource person.
This event featured renowned speakers to provide training on management and leadership. For example, the material presented by (PSPD) alumna Hanun Chafira Qarunnada, S.Ked., discussed the 5-star doctor, the theory of leader formation, leadership styles, how to become a leader, lessons learned in organizations, and how to manage the relationship between lectures and organizations. She also introduced medical culture, associations within the program, the vision and mission, and work programs presented by the BPI HMPPD.
The Mitosis activity received a positive response from both lecturers and participants. "The event ran smoothly, with the enthusiasm of both participants and committee members maintained. The material was delivered well, and I hope this event will help my fellow PSPD 2023 students learn about and develop through this program," said Lutfi, the head of the Mitosis 2023 organizing committee.
