Sumbersekar, Malang – Medical students from UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang once again demonstrated their dedication and concern for public health. On Saturday, October 12, 2024, in Sumbersekar Village, Dau District, Malang Regency, they witnessed the enthusiasm of aspiring young doctors at the ABDI DESA X MEDCHARITY 2024 event.

This event was organized by the Medical Education Student Association (HMPPD) UIN Malang and was successfully implemented thanks to the close collaboration between the Young Doctors Association (IKDM) and the RHAZES Medical Team (RMT), as well as the full support and guidance of Mr. Yossi Indra Kusuma, S.Ked., M.Med.Ed., as the Advisor of HMPPD UIN Malang and dr. Tias Pramesti Griana, M. Biomed. As the Head of the Medical Education Program FKIK UIN Malang. Strong synergy between institutions and ongoing professional guidance ensure that every series of activities runs smoothly and provides a real positive impact on the community. This collaboration not only strengthens program implementation but also becomes an important foundation in achieving the main goal of increasing public awareness and health in a sustainable manner.
This community service activity began with the Village Service program, which included free health checks and health consultations that began in the morning. The program received a positive response from local residents who enthusiastically attended. As part of the series of activities, the committee also focused on the elderly through a vitamin supplement distribution program aimed at improving their health.

Entering the afternoon, the event continued with the MEDCHARITY session. On this occasion, Cep Reza Alam Wahid, S.Ked., acted as the keynote speaker, delivering comprehensive material on hypertension, a health condition that is a serious problem among Indonesians. In his interactive presentation, Cep Reza emphasized that, "Hypertension is not just an individual health problem, but a real threat to public health at large."“

Aditya Surya Pranata, Head of the UIN Malang Student Health Center (HMPPD), explained that the focus on hypertension was not without reason. "HMPPD research shows a high prevalence of cardiovascular disease around the UIN Malang Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK), making education about hypertension an urgent need," he said.

The participants' enthusiasm was evident in the numerous questions asked and the lively discussions that ensued throughout the event. Several residents even expressed their intention to have their blood pressure checked immediately and adopt healthier lifestyles after attending. The presenters welcomed the positive response and hoped the education provided would help the community prevent and manage hypertension more effectively.
By the end of the event, high hopes had been planted. Sumbersekar Village envisioned becoming a pioneer in hypertension control, a concrete example of how collaboration between educational institutions and the community can create significant change in the health sector. ABDI DESA X MEDCHARITY 2024 was more than just an event. It was a manifestation of the dreams, dedication, and commitment of aspiring young doctors to build a healthier Indonesia, starting in the villages around them.
