New student admissions must meet the principles of fairness, accountability, transparency, and non-discrimination by not distinguishing between gender, religion, ethnicity, race, social status, and economic ability of prospective students while still taking into account the potential of prospective students and the specifics of the higher education institution. Higher education institutions, as educational providers, after secondary education, accept prospective students who have high academic achievement and are predicted to successfully complete their studies at the university on time. Students who achieve high and consistently demonstrate their achievements in high school/vocational school/Islamic high school deserve the opportunity to become prospective students through SNMPTN.

Within the framework of integrating secondary and higher education, schools are given a role in the SNMPTN selection process, assuming that schools, as educational units, and teachers, as educators, always uphold honor and honesty as part of the principles of character education. Therefore, schools are obliged to complete the School and Student Database (PDSS) completely and correctly, and to encourage and support students in the registration process. The PDSS is a database containing a track record of school performance and student academic achievement, which serves as the primary source of data for SNMPTN.
