SBMPTN 2018 is a selection based on the results of the Print-Based Written Exam (UTBC) or Computer-Based Written Exam (UTBK) or a combination of the results of the written exam and the skills exam of prospective students, carried out jointly under the coordination of the Central Committee.

The SBMPTN (National Selection for National University) is funded by the selection process and the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education. SBMPTN participants from economically disadvantaged families with high academic achievement can apply for Bidikmisi educational assistance funds.
