Malang - The Medical Education Student Association of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang held the 2019 Cardion event. Cardion (Science and Primary Medical Competition) 2019 is a basic science and medical olympiad and a SBMPTN tryout. This olympiad has been held since 2018.
This year, there are two test fields included in the 2019 Cardion event series, namely the Basic Science and Medicine Olympiad, and the SBMPTN Saintek Try out.
This year, Cardion is present in 7 regions, including: Malang as the regional center, Jombang, Surabaya, Tasikmalaya, Jakarta, Makassar, and Yogyakarta. Previously, the Cardinians, as the Cardion committee is known, have been intensively promoting Cardion 2019 in thousands of public and private high schools across Indonesia since July 16, 2018.
The theme of this national-level event is "Cardiovascular System." The Olympiad stages begin with offline and online preliminary rounds. The competition culminates in the semifinals and finals, held at the central branch, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang.
In the opening of the Semifinals and finals, Chairul Syarif, General Administration Staff of Batu City Government, was also present, besides representing the Mayor of Batu, Drs. Dewanti Rumpoko, he also officially opened the Grand Opening of the Semifinals-Finals of Cardion 2019. Titled "Take The Challenge To Your Beat", Cardion 2019 invited participants to get to know more about the world of medicine.
A total of 40 teams (120 participants) from 4100 participants from all over Indonesia who passed the preliminary stage will proceed to the semifinals. In the semifinals, participants compete to answer questions spread across 25 posts around the UIN Malang 2 campus. Each post has a time duration determined by the committee. There are 4 subject areas being competed: Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Basic Medicine. From the semifinals, 5 teams with the best scores will be selected to advance to the Final round. These five teams will compete for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place, 1st runner-up, and 2nd runner-up.
“"This was one of the most exciting Olympiads I've ever participated in, because in the semifinals we ran, competing to find posts provided around campus, and answer questions in those posts. It was tiring running, but it was so much fun!!" said one participant from SMAN 2 Cirebon.
The 5 teams that previously entered as grand finalists in Cardion 2019, have been announced as winners, namely the first winner from MAN 2 Malang, the second winner from SMA 1 Blitar, the third winner from SMA 2 Cirebon, the 1st runner-up from SMA 1 Lumajang, and the 2nd runner-up from SMA 1 Gresik.
