Cardion 2026: The National Medical Olympiad That Ignites the Academic Spirit of High School Students at the Faculty of Medicine and Medicine, UIN Malang

Students of the Medical Education Study Program (Prodi) of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang once again held the Cardion 2026 competition. Cardion is a national-scale medical olympiad and public poster competition for high school students. This year, Cardion was held on February 1, 2026, at the Ar-Rahim Building, Campus 3, FKIK UIN Malang.

This year, Cardion chose the theme "Immunology" with the Medical Olympiad and Public Poster competitions, which were divided into two sessions: preliminary rounds and semifinal-final rounds. The preliminary rounds were held according to the regions spread across Indonesia, of which this year there were 8 regions: Madura, Surabaya, Central Java, Jombang, Probolinggo, Tulungagung, Malang, and online. The number of participants involved reached 500+ participants spread across Indonesia.

Preparations for the competition began 11 months ago, ensuring a well-organized implementation. The semifinals and finals of Cardion 2026 included various events, including the socialization of the Medical Education program and Campus Tour. In addition, the implementation of the semifinals using the system rally It is a special excitement for the participants.

According to Syahdan, the Chief Executive of Cardion 2026 who is also a Medical Education student from the class of 2023, this activity aims to accommodate the diverse interests and talents of students, as well as to introduce the FKIK UIN Malang campus to the public, especially high school students throughout Indonesia.

“"This competition is a forum for developing the talents and interests of high school students in developing science, medicine, and other fields of study," said Syahdan.

Head of the Medical Education Study Program at UIN Malang, Dr. drg. Risma Aprinda Kristanti, M.Sc. expressed his impressions of the implementation of Cardion 2026. He appreciated the performance of the student committee in this national event and hoped that this event could be held annually and continued to be developed.

“"I would like to thank all the participants who have participated in this activity. I would also like to thank the committee for their meticulous preparation. I hope this event will bring blessings to all involved," said Drg. Risma in her remarks.

Similar appreciation was also expressed by Dr. dr. Ermin Rachmawati, M.Biomed, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UIN Malang. In her remarks, Dr. Ermin emphasized the role of the Faculty in developing scientific and other disciplines.

“"Of course, our scientific development efforts don't stop here. We play a role in recognition in competitions to promote the importance of academics, which should be instilled in students from school," said Dr. Ermin in his remarks.

With the successful implementation of Cardion 2026, the Faculty of Medicine and Medicine, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the development of the academic potential of the younger generation in science and medicine. This event is expected to serve not only as a competition but also as a space for inspiration, collaboration, and motivation for high school students throughout Indonesia to continue pursuing achievements and aspirations in the medical world. Cardion is also expected to continue to develop as a more innovative, inclusive, and impactful national event.
