The handover of the Decree (SK) for the Establishment of the Medical Education Study Program from the Ministry of Research and Technology (Wednesday/30/3/2016) in Jakarta. Prof. Dr. H. Mudjia Rahardjo, M.Si., Rector of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang for the 2013-2017 period, was seen signing the document.
Since changing its institutional status to a University in 2004, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang has the task of organizing Higher Education both in the field of Islamic Religious Studies and general sciences. The great ideals of establishing the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences have been depicted in the Tree of Knowledge initiated by the founders of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. The planning for the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is written in the Strategic Development Plan of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang for 2006-2030. Preparations for the establishment were started by Prof. Dr. H. Imam Suprayogo as the Rector of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang at that time, and continued by the next Rector of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, Prof. Dr. Mudjia Rahardjo, M.Si, in 2012, namely signing an MoU with Sebelas Maret University Surakarta (UNS) as the Supervisory Faculty of Medicine in preparing for the establishment of the Medical Education Study Program. In October 2015, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang collaborated with the Level II Hospital dr. Soepraoen, Malang City, serves as the main teaching hospital. Meanwhile, to develop excellence in the field of tourism medicine, particularly the Hajj, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang has established a partnership with the Directorate General of Hajj and Umrah Organization at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The Medical Education and Medical Profession Study Program at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang was approved for opening with the issuance of the Decree of the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education No. 126/KPT/1/2016 on March 28, 2016. With the issuance of this permit, the number of Health Study Programs has become three. This encouraged the University leadership to combine the three Study Programs under the auspices of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. After receiving Senate approval, in January 2017, the Rector issued Decree No. Un.3/PP.00.9/3218/2016 concerning the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences which was then strengthened through the Regulation of the Minister of Religious Affairs No. 2 of 2018 concerning the Organization and Work Procedures of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang.
Currently, the Medical Education Study Program of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang has been established with a magnificent and modern physical performance, professional human resources, supported by the spirit of Islam and a strong commitment while asking for the blessing and guidance of Allah SWT, will continue to move forward together to rebuild Islamic civilization in the field of medicine and health by producing graduates of Doctors who have the character of Ulul Albab.
